I'm on a roll!
I saw a tweet where someone mocked another person, saying, "The pain of watching someone you know forcing things on TikTok." While some people laughed at the post, one comment stood out to me: "Since when did it become cool to not try?" I couldn't have said it better myself.
Society has become so twisted that effort is now seen as something shameful. We’re made to feel embarrassed about just starting out, about not knowing how, and, ultimately, about being ourselves.
It’s gotten to the point where we hide our process. We don’t want others to see us trying, struggling, or failing. Everyone is so busy curating a perfect life—turning it into a bed of roses—that showing vulnerability or effort is now considered "uncool."
And I’ve felt it, too. There have been moments where I hesitated to share something I was passionate about because I worried people would think I was ‘forcing it.’ But why should we let that fear hold us back?
We admire success stories, but ironically, we shy away from the effort it takes to achieve them. We celebrate the finished product while ignoring the messy, imperfect process that got someone there. If we’re too afraid to try, how would we then become like the people we look up to?
Let’s make effort cool again. Let’s show that struggling and growing is normal, and that putting yourself out there—even when it’s imperfect—is what leads to greatness. Your; one like, one comment, one share, one message to someone trying, is all they need to keep going and it's all we need as a society to make trying — cool again.
Just incase you didn't know, I really appreciate your feedback. So if you leave one, you're making my day.
