One of my favourite content creators, Eric Gugua, in an interview I watched shared about how he gained about 50 followers from 2020 to 2023 and between then and now, he as gained about 200,000 followers. This person has also been creating content actively for 12 years and yet some persons who have been created for less than 5 years seem to have gained more followers and reach.
This is the reality of the life we live in. It seems as though people who are putting in less effort or less time are making it faster, getting more visibility and reach than we are. On some days, this can be really frustrating because it's seems like our efforts are not seen or rewarding.
I've been there. Constantly putting in the work and nothing seems to be working out and yet people who don't even do as much seem to be doing better. It's frustrating. It's tiring. It makes me want to give up. But, like someone I look up to would say, even if it is only for an audience of one, keep showing up.
You see, growth is not unidirectional. It means that growth doesn't just mean growing up and increasing in numbers, reach and views; sometimes growth is growing sideways and covering more areas which doesn't seem like much but in due time, we can see the big picture. And sometimes, growth is growing downwards to strengthen your root for what is to come. Sometimes you have to know what it feels like to not be rewarded or recognised for your efforts so when you do, you are able to keep your head straight.
Sometimes all you need to do is create a routine, find inspiration and focus on the process not the numbers. It's okay to be happy about doing big number and be sad about not doing big numbers but don't let it define you. It's just the process.
Even if it doesn't really seem like it, every single day, every single effort, every single post and every single time you show up; it's you growing regardless and one day, you'd finally see the impact no matter how long it takes.
So, keep the faith.
Incase you didn't know, I do appreciate your feedback. So, if you leave one, you're making my day.
